Kurt Johnson and Sam Levin each had three points to help lead the visiting Titans to a 5 – 4 win over the Long Beach Sharks to complete the weekend sweep between the teams. Ryan Talorico and George Hinds also hit the back of the net.
Long Beach’s Dylan Harbour opened the scoring at 4:48 into the first period to give the Sharks an early 1 – 0 lead. Hinds tied the game at one with 9:21 remaining in the opening period. It was Hinds fifth goal of the season.
The team essentially exchanged goals in the middle stanza.
Long Beach’s Jack Fitzpatrick made it 2 – 1 at 6:54 of the period, and Johnson scored his first of two goals today (a powerplay) almost two minutes later.
Johnson scored his second goal of the game with 8:35 remaining in the second to give the Titans their first lead of the game. Fitzpatrick scored his second goal of the game with 7:01 left in the period.
With 5:36 left in the second, the Titans regained the lead on Talorico’s fourth goal of the weekend to make it 4 – 3. Long Beach tied the game with 1:28 remaining in the period on Zac Kretzschmer’s fifth goal of the season.
Levin scored the game winner (his second of the season) with 4:56 remaining in regulation to make it 5 – 4.
It was the Red Buckets sixth win out of their last ten games.
Daniel Antal turned aside 19 of 23 shots in the win while Long Beach’s Colten McIntyre stopped 19 of 23. Click here for the complete box score.
The Titans, who have played the most games in the league so far, will be on a break. Their next game will be on November 11 and 12 against the Bay State Bobcats who visit the Middletown Sports Complex for the first time this season.
