Teito Ishigaki scored two goals while Sam Senft and Alex Blaszak each had a goal and an assist but it wasn’t enough as the Titans fell to the visiting Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks 8 – 6 this afternoon in a seesaw game.
Danbury took a 2 – 0 lead on goals from Ivan Kovalev at 1:43 into the game and then Reese Tamburo at 10:49 of the first period.
The Titans then scored four straight goals.
Senft scored a powerplay goal with 7:21 left in the opening period and then Roland Ponechal scored unassisted with fifty seconds remaining in the first to tie the game at two.
Blaszak scored just fifty-three seconds into the second period to give the Red Buckets the lead. Jake Spangler doubled the Titans lead just 2:02 into the period.
Danbury countered by scoring three straight goals.
Kovalev scored his second goal of the game 5:11 of the middle stanza, and Tamburo scored his second of the game midway through the second. Nikita Kovalev scored a shorthanded goal with 1:20 remaining in the period to give Danbury a 5 – 4 lead.
Ishigaki then scored two consecutive goals. The first one was with thirity-eight seconds remaining in the period to make it 5 – 5.
The Titans regained the lead on Ishgaki’s second goal just thirty-two seconds into the third period to make it a 6 – 5 game.
For the second time in the game, the Jr. Hat Tricks scored three straight goals to close out the scoring and make it 8 – 6.
Donovan Alfama stopped 32 of 40 shots in defeat while Danbury’s netminders turned aside 34 of 40. Click here for the box score.
