The NA3HL Titans fell to the visiting Northeast Generals last night 6 – 0 in the Red Buckets season opener. It was Northeast’s second game of the season.
Don’t let the score fool you. This was a well fought battle, and the Generals scored three goals in the third to break open the game. The Titans went 0 for 12 on the powerplay.
Northeast opened the scoring with 7:28 remaining in the first period when Michael Locke scored a powerplay goal to give the visitors a 1 – 0 lead.
The Generals’ Dalton Wille scored 2:13 into the middle stanza to double Northeast’s lead, and then the Generals went up 3 – 0 on Mason Frary’s first goal of the season two and a half minutes later. It was shorthanded goal.
Northeast then broke open the game by tallying three goals starting just nine seconds into the final period on Braeden Kennedy’s third goal of the season.
Frary added his second goal of the game just under eight minutes to make it a 5 -0 contest, and then Gabe Vijuk closed out the scoring with 1:39 remaining in the game to make it 6 – 0.
Jake Agoglia stopped 33 of 39 shots in his Titans debut while Ian Kangas stopped all 23 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season. Click here for the box score.
