The Titans fell to the Northeast Generals 3 – 1 today as they were swept by the Generals during this weekend’s two-game series.
Jake Spangler got the Titans on the board with 8:48 left in the opening period. Spangler picked up the loose puck in the Generals near side corner and make a centering pass to Chase DiTuillo at the top of the slot. DiTuillo sent it back to the Mason Garnhart at the far side blueline. Garnhart took a clapper that was saved by D’Mar McCoy, but Spangler slammed home the rebound past McCoy and into the net for his third goal of the season.
The Generals tied the game at one with 7:51 remaining in the second period. Matthew Nuzzolilo brought the puck up through center ice and into the Titans zone. As Nuzzolilo reached the top of the near side faceoff circle, he made a cross-ice pass to Braeden Kennedy, but it went wide and into the corner. Kennedy took a shot on net that was deflected by Nuzzolilo and the rebound came right out to Nolan Murphy who was left all alone in the slot and he jammed home the rebound past Titans netminder Donovan Alfama for his fifth goal of the season.
Northeast took the lead with 3:51 left in the middle stanza. The Generals’ Payton Felix picked up the loose puck along the far side boards at center ice. As he gained the line on a two-on-two, Pelix went around the Titans defender and took a wrist shot that beat Alfama short side for his fourth goal of the season.
Felix scored his second goal of the game with 1:09 remaining in the contest to close out the scoring.
Alfama stopped 47 of 50 shots in the loss while McCoy turned aside 26 of 27 in the victory. Click here for the box score.
