Caleb Belland scored two goals to help lead the Titans to a 4 – 3 win over the visiting Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks in a sea saw game earlier today.
Danbury’s Lou Caulfield opened the scoring at 4:23 into the first period to make it a 1 – 0 game. Belland scored his first goal of the game with 9:18 left in the period to tie it. It also was Belland’s first goal of the season. A minute later Payton Fobes scored his twelfth goal of the season to give the Titans a 2 – 1 lead.
George Hinds’ team high fourtheenth goal of the season gave the Titans a 3 – 1 lead just fifty-six seconds into the second period. The Tricks’ Oleg Egorov scored his first goal of the game – a powerplay goal – at 3:02 into the middle stanza cut Danbury’s deficit in half. Egorov’s second goal of the contest – and nineteenth of the season – tied the score at three.
Belland’s second goal of the game at 9:07 into the third period gave the Titans a 4 – 3 lead and closed out the scoring.
Daniel Antal stopped 44 of 47 shot in the win while Danbury’s Ryan Maguire turned aside 25 of 29. Click here for the complete box score.
The win was huge for the Red Buckets. It was their third victory in a row and elevated them into fourth place in the East Division and gave them a one point lead over the team they will be playing two-games this upcoming weekend: Long Beach Sharks.
